[title of show], the Tony award-nominated musical by Hunter Bell and Jeff Bowen, is a metatextual love letter to the musical theatre. When best friends and struggling writers Jeff and Hunter hear about a new musical theatre festival with a deadline just weeks away, they enlist their friends Susan, Heidi, and Larry to create something new. When they come to the conversation of just what to write about, Jeff suggests they write about what to write about. In the span of 90 minutes, [title of show] follows the five friends as they write, rehearse, perform, and learn lessons about themselves and each other in the lead up to the festival. [title] represents a whole host of first for the Carleton Musical Theatre Society as well, as it marks our first show off campus and our first smaller show dedicated to fostering the talents of emerging artists. Into the Woods

James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece... and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching.

Into the Woods follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.
